Workshop Description:
Roberta explains that shading or value drawing, is the application of light values (highlights), mid-values (tones), and dark values (shadows) to create a realistic, 3-dimensional quality and depth in individual objects and compositions that are drawn on a flat surface.
This six-week class is for people who would like to learn how to shade objects to produce dimensional effects or just sharpen already learned skills. It encompasses study of the value components, lighting, object contours, value contrasts, tonal mapping, drawing techniques, pencil grades and pressures, for example.
Materials Provided by Participant:
Participants need to bring a set of drawing pencils ranging from the H through the B grades, a drawing pad 9”x 12” or larger, and a good eraser.
