Instructor Joanne Mitchell says, “February is the perfect time to prepare a Scherenschnitte Valentine. Scherenschnitte means scissor cuts in German, it is the art of paper cutting design. The artwork often has rotational symmetry within the design, and common forms include silhouettes, valentines, and love letters.” Joanne will instruct you how to prepare and cut a Scherenschnitte design (heart) from parchment paper, using an xacto-knife on a cutting mat. You will learn what to cut first, how to cut neatly, and how to finish your design to frame. The following supplies will be provided: Xacto knives, cutting mat, pattern, backing paper for finished design, and glue stick.
